Snow Days!

The Blizzard of 2010 is a big one (by Alabama standards at least).  Lucas' school was canceled long before the flakes flew so he skipped yesterday and today. Not only is there an unusual amount of snow on the ground, it is unusually cold.  Not only is it unusually cold, it's been cold for an unusually long time.  All in all, an unusual weather pattern.

Mya did go to her school for a couple hours yesterday and when Lucas walked her in to her classroom, Ms. Kim graciously offered to have Lucas stay and play with Ms. Marsha's class.  I came back at 11 am to collect two very happy children.

We picked up Dad and grabbed lunch at Captain D's and then as a real snow-day treat, we hit Gigi's Cupcakes for a Birthday Surprise and a Boston Creme.

The drive up Keel Mtn was an interesting one with one car sliding/reversing back down to mountain to my left in the oncoming lane.  Once that crazy guy made his way by us without incident, we slowly and carefully finished our trek.

Sadly, Dad's Versa did not make it through the Big One of '10.  It sits in a ditch as I write, awaiting rescue.  A crazy guy slammed on his brakes right in front of Craig on the way home and the Versa bit it.

Oh well, the fire is roaring, the dog is snoozing and the kids are engrossed in a movie.  It is a peaceful, beautiful  snow day.
